taipole

Taipole is one spice we add to fish curry - very specific to konkani cuisine. Ive never heard it mentioned by kannada friends. I dont think its used in anything other than in fish curry. It has a weird punjent taste and It tastes amazing. The name sounds so funny, I'd made this slogan "taipole raja ki jai jai jai!" in dharwad. just to annoy my mum and aunts :D All the kids in the house going taipole raja ki jai jai jai!! meaningless fun :D ah those summer holidays!
Craving for mum's fish curry - and as I do most times i browse recipes and look at pictures instead of actualy cooking. I looked up this taipole.
It is used in Himalayan, Tibetan, Nepalese and Chinese cooking! Its even called Sichuan pepper!
Its a small world.
(There is a theory that konkani people originated in Kashmir - this is proof for that :D )

How would taipole taste in chinese cuisine?? Ive never eaten Bhutani food!! I want I want!!
Makes me feel so humble, Such a the Vast World! Infinite tastes to explore and we have to do in it 2000 calories per day!!!! not fair! :D

what is the height of ego...

When you ask a person to think of a number and he thinks of i ( square root of -1) :-) :-) :-)

brain makes weird connections

Daffodil flowers everywhere - spring time! I always look at this flower and smile and think "duck!" Then one day I wondered -duck?!? why duck? The flower is nothing like a duck! why do I thikn it looks like a duck! :D
It turns out thats because of pingu( yeah yeah he is not a duck but atleast he's a water bird) when he honks- his beak is like those old horns - daffodil flower is sort of like that. ( poetic amnt i :P)

I was watching Jesus missing years - and I think ah! Jesus is just like Mark Zuckerberg!!!! :-D
Err...why? Facebook and Christianity both just ran away and got so hugely unbelievably successful! That was mighty lucky. Not that facebook and Christianity dont have their own merits but thousands of other "products" are out there which are probably just as good but didnt get the lucky break. The circumstances shaped their fate for this kind of success...( wow this is a Dejavu thought! I ve written this before- I think)

ps: offcourse it is debatable whether facebook is successful because it is so great( I think it is really a great product, has an edge over others) or whether luck played a huge part in it success.. same with the religion :D thats not the point -Just thinking how brain makes weird connections like these.

jab mein chota baccha tha...

When I was a kid I hated Volkeswagon beetle - The old 1960;'s one. There were quite a few of these in Bangalore then. I used to call it Jeerunde car :-) we used to have this Jeerunde attacks in rainy season I think :-) Jeerunde = beetle ! :D I din even know that it was called beetle then !

When I was a kid I thought there were only 3 religions Hindu Muslim Christian. When I heard of Jews I was really confused - What are they ? Type of Christians? . I couldnt understand for a long time that they were different religion. Buddhist and Jain and Sikh I thought were like castes or sects in Hinduism like Lingayat may be.. Always questioned What were Europeans before they were ?Christians? it is only 2000 years since Christians have existed..
I always thought Hindu then Islam then Christian religion came into picture, I was really surprised that Islam was (invented? started? Whatevered) in 600 AD.

When I was a kid I thought it was more civilized to drink tea from saucer than the cup! LOL. I used to drink tea, coffee from Saucer when I went to others houses :-) I saw it in movie where Dharmendra wearing suit goes to heroines house and drinks in saucer :-) My inspiration - untill one day my dad made fun of Laalu for drinking from the saucer

When I was a kid I thought boy friends and girl friends were fictional, They existed only in movies... dont ask! :D
reminds me of...
Jab mein Chota baccha tha,
Pant mein susu kar ta tha..
Mere chori pakdi jaati,
Ghar mein tha Bajaj :P

tough men dont...

... take tube seats :-) I see this drama every day.. poor guys who are tired who are going home who are waiting to crash as soon as they reach home.. dont sit! :D even if the seat is vacant, even if they are right next to the seat... even if no one else seems keen to sit - hmm all those other people not keen to take seat also mostly are tough men :-) . Obliged to not sit. I find this very funny.. and i can relate.. having faced the "to give up or not to give up seat" dilemma( I dont like this spelling I want to write dielima :P ) sometimes I sit down even if I am getting off next stop.. I am Obliged to sit... feels like a waste ..
I want to yell - loosen up and please sit down.. its ok really! the seats are empty and in a crowded train its a sin to leave them vacant and stand.
All this curse of civilized society- not that I mind .

2012 & ZION

Iran is interpreting the the new Olympics logo as zion and is threatening to boycott the Olympics.. the logo needs to be turned around and upside down etc etc to see that Zion in there!
They did the same with coco cola.. I was wondering what kind of idiots turn things around like this and interpret things - schizophrenia? !!?! beautiful minds! :P
[On second thoughts after looking at that pic -it not that hard to imagine Zion in there]

Then it occurred to me- have u seen Arabic calligraphy?

The letters can be shaped anyhow. I have seen the letters shaped as praying man and lamp etc... so... people reading Arabic scripts and calligraphy may just look at any other symbol like that and read it that way.. from all possible angles...is this cultural misunderstanding? ? Are Arabs prone to misunderstanding western symbols because of their Calligraphy?

Not that it is a good enough excuse to boycott Olympics...and create unnecessary ruckus...
